Taking its cue from a classic New England summer house, Hotel J offers a stylish, nautical-themed stay in Nacka Strand. Set on the waterfront, the hotel has views of Stockholm Harbour and Djurgarden island, with its wealth of historic buildings. An upscale property with its own jetty, the hotel is spread between an elegant redbrick building dating from 1912 and a contemporary annexe. Both Nyckelviken nature reserve and Svindersvik, an 18th-century Rococo country house, are a 10-minute drive away. Stockholm city centre takes 20 minutes to reach by car or 25 minutes via ferry.
Hotel J's interiors have a nautical feel, with a "breezy, blue-and-white Hamptons vibe" (Lonely Planet). There are two lounges to choose from: an elegant salon with an ornate fireplace, and a chic, white-painted space with star-patterned fabrics. Restaurant J, a couple of minutes' walk from the hotel on the waterfront, serves seafood and brasserie-style dishes. The dining room's white-painted wood and blue-and-white fabrics continue the nautical theme, and there's a terrace for al fresco seaside dining. The hotel's garden has chairs and tables going down to the water.
Rooms feature clean white décor, wooden floors and striped fabrics. All offer balconies with garden, harbour or sea views, as well as free Wi-Fi, flatscreen TVs and mini bars. Higher-category rooms add roof terraces and sitting areas with sofabeds, while split-level suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sea
