Taking over prime oceanfront real estate near Cape May, the Icona Diamond Beach opened in 2013 on the site of the 1970s-era Pier 6600 Hotel. The renovated property combined 200 small guest rooms into just 102 suites and studios.
Revamped accommodations feature conveniences of home like galley kitchens, separate living rooms with flat-screen televisions and cozy sleeper sofas, in addition to two queens or one king bed in the bedrooms. Many rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies with varying views of the Atlantic Ocean and Diamond Beach. All stays include complimentary Wi-Fi and parking for one car per suite.
In addition to its private beach -- a rarity on the Jersey Shore -- the property is also home to Coastal Blue, which serves locally sourced seafood favorites and contemporary American dishes. Please note: Coastal Blue has limited weekday hours. Open seasonally from Memorial Day through October, Bungalow No. 7 serves beachside adult beverages complemented with fire pits, music and ocean views. The Icona Pantry is also available for snacks, beer and wine to satisfy late-night cravings.
The hotel is less than six miles from Cape May’s historic Washington Street Mall and iconic Victorian mansions.
