Overview

Hotel Maya, a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, brings a low-key Latin vibe to the Long Beach waterfront. Set on 11 acres covered with more than 400 palm trees, an agave garden, pebble walkways and bright colorful tiles, the hotel is a quieter (but still convenient) alternative to downtown. A seasonal (May-October) water taxi provides transportation across the bay to downtown Long Beach, and the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to destinations within 2 miles.

The property includes a walking track, a waterfront pool with floating cabanas and -- the real highlight -- its own 6,500-square-foot sandy beach area with fire pits. Savor Latin cuisine at the on-site Fuego restaurant, an OpenTable Diners' Choice Award winner featuring everything from ceviche and fresh seafood to barbecue, steaks and, of course, margaritas. The bar also serves 150 types of tequilas -- the largest selection in the region.

Guests can use the free bike rentals to cruise along downtown Long Beach's bike boulevards, which were built as part of the city's push to become one of the most bike-centric cities in California. The historic Queen Mary, a ship turned museum and floating hotel, is half a mile away.

The service was good. The room & view of the harbor was excellent.

There was a daily parking fee of $27.50 that I don't recall seeing on the booking promotion. Had I seen it I most likely not have done the trip.

We had a very enjoyable time. With our deal was included smore makings and breakfast voucher. Another great deal from Travelzoo. We hadn't made smores since we were children and enjoyed the fire pits and ambiance. Took a nice stroll after dinner along the paved walkway. Just beautiful. Room lighting is dark unless you have the curtains open. We found the bathroom lacking counter space since it was built on an angle. Interesting design. Personnel we're very friendly from being greeted at the desk to the waiter in the restaurant. Definitely talking about staying there again for just a quick weekend away.

Did not have room ready at time of check in. Had to wait 45 mins to be seated for breakfast.

The staff were so friendly and kind at both the hotel and the restaurant Fuego. We rented a bike and thoroughly enjoyed the pool, yard games, and fire pits for s’mores! Fuego had a great happy hour... We especially enjoyed the awesome breakfast and beautiful scenery. We had a wonderful time and would recommend for sure!

harbor view, bed was comfortable

Only lukewarm water in room shower. Very disappointing. Also, they booked me into a room right besides the elevator and a loud outdoor party (with music that went late on a Tuesday night). Quality was way below Doubletree standards. I'd never stay here again.
