An ornate column-framed entrance with wrought iron gates leads into Quebecs, an upscale city-centre hotel occupying a grand 19th-century building with a striking terracotta-brick façade. It's set in Leeds's bustling Financial District, a 5-minute walk from high-end shopping at Victoria Quarter and within 20 minutes' walk of both Leeds Grand Theatre and the Royal Armouries Museum.
The hotel's stately interiors -- think oak-panelled walls, a grand carved-wood staircase and local coats of arms -- recall its days as a political club. A full English breakfast is served in the conservatory (located high up in the building), and guests can enjoy drinks and snacks on leather seats in the elegant Porters Lodge Bar or take afternoon tea overlooking the grand stained-glass windows in the Gallery. The hotel also provides free access to a nearby health club, which has a pool and a gym.
The 44 rooms are decorated in a refined style with neutral tones and dark-wood furnishings. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, mini bars, and tea- and coffee-making facilities, while Deluxe and Executive Rooms include floor-to-ceiling windows, designer toiletries and sitting areas. The hotel's suites add luxury touches such as coffee machines, iPod docks and separate living areas; some have balconies, roll top bathtubs or loft areas. Room service is available 24 hours a day.
