Taking inspiration from the nearby World Fashion Centre -- home to one of the largest fashion trade fairs in the world -- the WestCord Fashion Hotel is a trendy, modern property with tongue-in-cheek mannequins scattered throughout.
It’s in the southwest of the city, near Vondel and Rembrandt parks, and within a 20-minute tram ride of the city centre. Slightly closer is Leidseplein square, near Amsterdam’s central canal ring, which is 10 minutes away by tram. It’s an easy journey; trams run regularly and tickets are available from reception. Alternatively, it’s a pleasant stroll or cycle through Vondelpark. Bikes are available to hire from reception (extra charge applies). The Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum are a mile and a half away.
The indoor pool and gym at the on-site Wellness Garden are free for guests to use but there’s a small charge for the sauna and Turkish steam room. Spa treatments can also be arranged.
A full buffet breakfast is served in the Fashion Restaurant and Bar, while later on, dinner is also available. Make time to travel up to the 10th floor and enjoy the panoramic city views while enjoying a cocktail in the SKYY Bar.
The bedrooms are furnished in neutral colours, and all come with free Wi-Fi, Nespresso coffee machines, tea-making facilities and mini bars, plus there’s an ice machine on many of the floors. Some of the bathrooms do have a glass door (there’s a separate toilet), but frosted glass is available on request at the time of booking. It’s a relatively quiet neighbourhood but rooms facing the courtyard are quieter than those overlooking the road.
