Holiday Inn Munich - City Centre
About the Hotel
Why We Love This Hotel
- Hard to beat location for airport and city centre
- Well-maintained, sound-proofed rooms
- Indoor pool and plenty of parking on site
- Shops on doorstep and the English Garden is a 10-minute walk
Brilliantly located, it’s little surprise this Holiday Inn is a favourite with business travellers and those on a short weekend break. The hotel, one of the biggest in Munich, is on the same train line as the airport, 40 minutes away.
It’s also located above one of the main U-bahn (metro) stations and there is a train into the city centre every five minutes or so. Excellent soundproofing in the rooms however means noise is not an issue. They are of a good size and well maintained. Ask for a room on a higher floor: on a clear day you might get a view of distant mountains.
There’s also an indoor pool and 500 parking spaces (extra charges apply) and guests get discounted entrance to the sports centre next door.
Bavarian and international dishes are served in the Holiday Inn's Grat restaurant, while snacks are available from the wood-floored Hoch Bar and Lounge. There are a number of other well regarded restaurants nearby and the hotel’s location within a shopping mall makes it convenient for picking up snacks and bottled water.
Close by, the Deutches Museum, Germany’s largest museum of science and technology, and the English Gardens are a 10-minute walk away. Two train stops from the hotel or a 15-minute walk is Marienplatz, the city’s main square for 1,000 years of its history. The Glockenspiel here is a tourist highlight of the so-called New City Hall on the north side.
