Overview

Eastwood Hall sits in 26 acres of private grounds, 30 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre. The heart of the hotel is a Georgian manor house (pictured), which was built as a family home around 1810 and was later used by British Coal as a regional office. Today the manor is a wedding and conference venue, and bedrooms are in a modern annex at the back of the hotel complex.

The property is on the edge of Eastwood, a former mining town bordered by farms and countryside. The DH Lawrence Birthplace Museum (open 10am-4pm Tuesday-Saturday) is the author's childhood home and is a 10-minute walk away; you can learn how growing up in Eastwood influenced influenced his controversial writing. The Blue Line Trail is a walk that links all of the Lawrence-related sights nearby.

Beauvale Priory and Felley Priory are around 10 minutes' drive away; both have quaint tea rooms that serve homemade cakes and light lunches. The Derwent Valley Heritage Way is a 55-mile-long footpath that runs through the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site. It passes a series of 18th- and 19th-century mill complexes and the watercourses that powered them, and can be reached from Belper or Duffied, which are both less than 30 minutes' drive from the hotel. Wollaton Hall, Papplewick Hall and Thrumpton Hall stately homes can all be reached within 30 minutes, and Sherwood Forest -- of Robin Hood fame -- is 45 minutes' drive away.

All 150 bedrooms are in a contemporary annex, and are decorated in neutral tones. The hotel has a restaurant and a bar. Wi-Fi is free.

My husband and I stayed for one night at Eastwood Hall for out wedding anniversary. We booked this through Travelzoo. The accommodation was good, as was the food and the service. I would definitely stay there again if I was looking to go to the Nottingham area.

Being able to use the spa facilities the following day.
Other Comments
On arrival we were not told that there was a problem with the steam room - which was what we were mainly going to this hotel for. Great that it was working the following day, but only because we had extended check out time.

The staff couldnt do enough for us. From reception to house keeping to the restaurant we were made to feel welcome and all our needs met. We did compliment the chef personally at breakfast for the vast choice. Evening meal was beautiful and restaurant manager very attentive. Our third visit, cant wait to go again!!
Other Comments
We arrived in the sun with our fog and sat outside to drink our complimentary prosecco when the restaurant manager came over with water for our dog! Really appreciated, thank you.

The meals were delicious, which included a buffet breakfast and three course dinner with bottle of Prosecco. The only complaint we had was that the cabbage was still hard and had not been cooked sufficiently but otherwise everything was excellent.
Other Comments
I telephoned several weeks ago to ensure that we had two twin rooms and NOT double rooms. Unfortunately when we checked in the request had been overlooked and had to wait for our beds to be remade. What annoyed me most was that no-one apologised.
