Overview

In its ninety year history, The St. Regis Washington, D.C., has hosted a long list of world leaders visiting the White House, which is just two blocks away. Every sitting president has visited the hotel since Coolidge cut the ceremonial grand opening ribbon of the then-Carlton Hotel in 1926. The property became the world’s second St. Regis in 1999.

Designed in the Renaissance style of an Italian palace, guests feel like the king of the castle from the moment they enter the lobby, surrounded by chandeliers, hand-carved wood with gold leafing and Oriental carpets.

Rooms at the AAA 4-Diamond hotel feature high tech amenities including plasma flat screens, Bose sound systems, Wi-Fi, Pratesi linens, gilded mirrors and DVD players. Bathrooms are equipped with TVs embedded in the mirrors, fluffy bathrobes and slippers, brass fixtures and Remède Spa products. Booking a suite adds around-the-clock, personalized butler service to grant guest wishes from scoring hot Kennedy Center show tickets to picking up a bestselling novel.

Decanter serves a classic steakhouse menu in a light-filled space decorated with sleek chrome and cream mid-century modern elements. Trained in France by Michelin starred chefs, the head cook serves three meals a day in addition to afternoon tea. Having hosted jazz legends Duke Ellington and Count Basie, the property celebrates its musical history with live jazz performances in the lounge.

The hotel is no stranger to hosting guests in need of extra security and provides a private VIP entrance, translation services and dedicated bandwidth upon request for diplomats. The small fitness center is open 24 hours a day and those in need of a lap pool can access a nearby full-service gym for a fee.
