Situated in a rural location about 30 kilometres from Malaga, this farmhouse hotel has a swimming pool and offers a tranquil base from which to explore the surrounding countryside and local towns. It's just outside of Pizarra in the Valle del Guadalhorce, in about 1.5 acres of land that features landscaped gardens, orange groves, stables and an outdoor pool with sunloungers. The grounds are also home to the Municipal Museum of Pizarra, which houses a collection of archaeological treasures as well as paintings by the Californian artist Gino Hollander.
The beautiful natural surroundings are a draw for keen walkers and cyclists, and the hotel staff can recommend local trails. Further afield, the Caminito del Rey (the King's little pathway), a vertigo-inducing network of paths in the Gaitanes Gorge, which is now a popular tourist attraction, is around 35 kilometres away.
Back at the hotel, staff can arrange all sorts of activities, excursions and outdoor pursuits, from flamenco lessons and tapas tours of Pizarra, to cookery classes and horse-drawn carriage rides (additional charges apply). The hotel restaurant has won local awards for excellence and serves a seasonal menu of regional cuisine that uses fresh local ingredients.
There are 18 bedrooms that have simple rustic décor in keeping with the rural surroundings. Some have features such as terracotta tiled floors, exposed wooden beams and private patios.
