"The Soier Lake right under your nose, the Ammergau Alps always in view. A hotel can hardly be more idyllic", enthuses Munich's daily newspaper Merkur. Parkhotel am Soier See is a traditional chalet-style hotel in Upper Bavaria, with stunning views of the Ammergau Alps.
The hotel is in Bad Bayersoien, a charming Bavarian village, and is around a 35-minute drive from the fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein. Munich is just over an hour away and it is around 40 minutes from the Austrian border. Ski resorts are easily accessible in winter, and summer activities include walking, biking and lake swimming.
The restaurant serves traditional Bavarian cuisine, and international and South African dishes. Themed dinners take place regularly and the hotel offers cooking classes. The spa covers 1,500 square metres and features an indoor pool, a sauna and a steam room. Daily activities include yoga and Nordic walking.
The rooms are decked out with natural wood, and all feature free Wi-Fi, slippers and robes. All but the Cosy Rooms have a balcony. The Suites overlook the lake.
