Note: The Dollywood Theme Park is closed for the season between Jan. 2 - March 18, 2017.

The sound of guitars strumming and banjos picking greets you along with "a stunning view of the nearby Smoky Mountains" (Travel + Leisure) when you arrive at Dollywood's DreamMore Resort, located a short ride from one of Tennessee's top attractions, the 150-acre Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge.

This new property (opened in summer 2015) makes for a great stay all on its own. Rooms feature pullout couches or bunk beds, and kids under 18 stay free with adults. Many of the rooms are built with adjoining doorways, so bigger families and groups can create a larger space. Younger kids (aged 4-10) can join Camp DW for arts and crafts, nature walks and other activites to keep them entertained outside of normal park hours.

Guests of the resort also receive a number of privileges when it comes to visiting the theme park -- between all the perks and discounts, families can save upwards of $130 a day on a trip. There's a free trolley that runs approximately every half houf between the resort and the park, and once you arrive there's an exclusive entrance for resort guests only. The park opens early on Saturday for resort guests, and you can reserve a complimentary TimeSaver pass to get a jump on the lines. The resort also has discounted 2-day park tickets for sale.

Even if you're not there for the theme park, the resort has a spa and salon with treatments like a Sweet Tea Surrender mani/pedi, plus a full pool complex with two waterfalls, a hot tub and a splash pad for the kids. There's two restaurants -- Song & Hearth is the sit-down Southern eatery open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, while the DM Pantry is for takeout sandwiches, pizza and snacks. Should you decide to venture away from Dollywood, you're just a 15-minute drive from Gatlinburg, known as the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Dollywood shuttle and timesaver pass for Dollywood.
Other Comments
There were no directions to the resort on the internet even though it is just 2 blocks from Dollywood and there was no signage on the roads. They need to put sheers behind the curtains in the rooms especially if you are on the very sunny side. We had dinner at the restaurant but was not that impressed with the "southern" vegetables or desserts. The resort seemed to be geared towards kids which is good if you have kids.

Beautiful and well maintained, the friendliest staff we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The employee Kelvin Wade, don't know what he is being paid, but he is worth it and more, same goes for the restaurant Manager Michael. The check in staff cannot say enough about them also. This is one of the best Resorts and Hotels we have ever had the pleasure to visit.
