About the Hotel
Why We Love This Hotel
- This ecolodge is perched above a lake and nature preserve overlooking the active Masaya volcano, which can be seen from the Hacienda at night
- Activities are plentiful with zip-lining, hiking, volcano tours and cultural shows available nearby the hotel
- Private casitas come with terraces and hammocks overlooking Masaya Volcano National Park
Located about 30 miles from both Managua and Granada, Hacienda Puerta del Cielo Resort and Spa is a 65-acre secluded ecolodge perched above a lake and natural preserve with a perfect view of Masaya Volcano, which glows red at night from the lava.
The intimate resort is comprised of eight private casitas with a private covered deck including a hammock and two deck chairs. Most casitas are for two people, but there is one Family Suite with two bedrooms, as well as a Honeymoon Suite. Since the resort is not within walking distance of town, the resort's restaurant serves traditional complimentary Nicaraguan food for breakfast, lunch and dinner at set times.
Situated on Masaya Volcano National Park, the property offers plenty of tours and activities such as nighttime volcano tours, zip-lining, kayaking and waterfall hikes. Culture buffs can explore Granada, take a boat tour of Lake Nicaragua, tour the neighboring pottery villages or see a folk music and dance show.
