Occupying the site of the former Ye Olde England Inne, Field Guide is a luxe mountain retreat in Stowe that "pays its own homage to Vermont, bucking traditional design and opting for a hip, playful approach" (Boston Globe).

The rustic-chic vibe extend to the hotel's accommodations, where rooms feature whimsical touches like wallpaper with bird prints and mounted cardboard animal heads. Balancing the intimacy of the upscale lodge experience with the conveniences of a modern hotel, all 30 rooms are equipped with AppleTVs, complimentary Wi-Fi and Tivoli radios with Bluetooth.

Before heading out for the day, guests can fuel up with a complimentary breakfast basket delivered to their room each morning. Open daily for dinner, the on-site Picnic Social is a modern eatery serving seasonal small-plates complemented by cocktails and beer. While just steps from the boutiques, restaurants and galleries of downtown Stowe, Field Guide is "designed as a base camp for exploration in the great outdoors -- from ski slopes to hiking trails" (Travel + Leisure).

On site, a lounge with a fireplace, seasonal heated pool and hot tub welcomes guests to unwind after a day of exploring.

The walls are very thin and we could hear conversations and phones ringing from the rooms on each side of us. The only big negative was we hardly slept because of that.

Everything. The people, the suite, the restaurant.

As a constructive note: We had a private balcony. It was lovely, but it had rained the night before. there were puddles and leaves on the table and in the chairs. Might want to have the staff check for this.

Great continental breakfast, with home-baked goodies, delivered to our room. Excellent restaurant. Funky, fun decor
Richard May 25, 2017 Dover, NH, USA
Enjoyed Most
The eclectic and hip decor.
Other Comments
There was only regular coffee, no decaf on offer at the self serve coffee/tea bar. Also, for all the thought and attention to decor that made for this chic hip property, there was a generic mini fridge just plunked on the floor in our room. A cabinet perhaps? An opportunity for another design element or creative flair to offset an ordinary fridge?

People at front desk were nice.
Other Comments
Did not stay was so disappointed in room. No curtains on big sliding door, bad smells, like a motel.
