This new hotel, which opened in the summer of 2015, is in the fishing village of Grindavík on the south coast of Iceland's dramatic Reykjanes Peninsula. It is well placed for exploring the peninsula's natural attractions, which include volcanic craters, lava fields and hot springs. The photogenic lake Kleifarvatn, which is the largest in the Reykjanes Peninsula, and one of the deepest in Iceland, is 34 kilometres from the hotel.
The area's most famous draw is the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa complex, which was named as one National Geographic's 25 Wonders of the World, and is less than a 10-minute drive away. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to the Blue Lagoon which can be arranged at check-in.
The hotel can also arrange complimentary airport transfers between the property and Keflavik International Airport, which is 26 kilometres from the hotel. Cosmopolitan Reykjavík is around 50 kilometres from the Geo Hotel, and there are good public transport links between the airport and the Icelandic capital.
The hotel doesn't have a restaurant, but there are a number of places to eat within walking distance. A bar in the spacious hotel lobby serves drinks and snacks. The hotel's 36 contemporary rooms are decorated with cool neutrals. There's free Wi-Fi at the hotel.
