On the edge of the well-heeled Cheshire town of Wilmslow, with its boutiques, bars and restaurants, is The Stanneylands, a country-house hotel set in four acres of landscaped gardens and woodland. It takes less than 10 minutes to drive to the hotel from Manchester Airport, making it a popular choice for travellers looking for an alternative to standard airport accommodation. Cosmopolitan Manchester itself is around 25 minutes from the hotel by road, and the market town of Macclesfield, with its silk-making heritage, is just 20 minutes away.
In the oldest part of the building, which dates to the late 1800s, is the 2-AA-Rosette hotel restaurant, which has original oak panelling and offers a refined setting for fine dining. The less-formal Calico Café Bar which overlooks the gardens, is a light and airy space in which to enjoy drinks, and a menu of light bites, sandwiches and meals such as fish and chips.
The hotel has several meeting and conference rooms available for business use, and its Oak and Stanley suites are popular venues for weddings (the hotel is licensed for civil marriages and partnerships). On-site spa and beauty treatments can be arranged by appointment.
There are 55 rooms and suites, including one with a four-poster bed. There's a family room, and some rooms are interconnecting, making them good choices if you're travelling with children.
