Overview

This castle-like resort sits on the water's edge of the St. Lawrence River with an array of activities for both winter and summer relaxation. The snowy weather brings snowmobiling, dogsledding and cross-country skiing. The summertime brings out the golfers with a 27-hole championship golf course as well as mini-golf, tennis courts and two outdoor swimming pools.

There are six dining options that range from high-end French culinary cuisine at Le Saint-Laurent restaurant to the more casual fare at Le Bellerive restaurant. Casino de Charlevoix is right next door for those wanting to hedge their bets on vacation.

Guestrooms are traditionally decorated and some have views of the river or whirlpool tubs. Suites have separate living areas.

There was confusion of what Travelzoo paid and what we paid .
Other Comments
There are some communication difficulties with services . Very polite but do not share information easily . It was a busy weekend with over 300 rooms but they should have sufficient staff to accommodate this . A workers shortage is evident in some areas .

We had a first class experience at Le Manoir Richelieu. The hotel, its spaces and its location are spectacular. And service at this hotel is really top notch. Hats off to management and to everyone that served us. We had an enchanting experience, and look forward to our next visit.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Grounds are gorgeous. Valet guys were great and gave us a ride back to hotel from restaurant. In my opinion, this was far prettier than Hotel Fontanec, right on the river, no crowds. The restaurant was excellent, breakfast buffet had everything one could want. And the espresso machine in the room was a fantastic extra (I ordered the same one from Amazon after I tried this out!). We did not go in the casino. I'd LOVE to return one day....

Staff were great, food was great. We didn’t use the valet but not an issue. The credit for the restaurant was not applied but they were looking into it when we left.

Lovely location. Hotel was nice but the room was crammed. Microwave would have been a nice addition. The sink was clogging.

We enjoyed the property, enjoyed the golf course, customer service was very good but the accommodation was not so great. Room was the biggest concern: Room was very small, washroom was tiny (It's the biggest problem with all fairmont hotels) and Poor light in the room and that was definitely a problem for us, the room was dark if there as soon as it was dawn, my husband and I were struggling as the light was too dim to work on our computers and bad for my son's eyes as he was using ipad in this dim light. Internet was an issue but the front desk was able to solve the problem. On the last day, glad we asked for the copy of the invoice as there were multiple extra charges and it took me an hour to get them fixed at the time of the check-out. We were charged for pet (which we didn't have), charged for valet parking that was included in our package and extra gratitude charges by the restaurant. We had $20 food credit in our package and it was not honoured.
Other Comments
Issue with the room (except the view, that was beautiful but windows were very small to enjoy it) must be raised with Fairmont. Extra charges in the invoice must also be raised with the hotel. If I wouldn't have asked them for a paper copy and we would have just checked out, it would have been a hassle for us to call Fairmont and resolve the extra charges issue with the hotel over the phone. It was an inconvenience. The property is beautiful. I wish the rooms and washrooms are decent in size with proper light in the rooms. It feels so dark in the room and rugs are so dark that they always look dirty.

We are 5 stars for our overall experience. Only comment was for the Le Bellerive which was excellent for the breakfast buffet, however the evening choice was limited and our next visit will be the Le Saint-Laurent for the evening meal. I may be just too sensitive of the scents in the main entrance and upstairs in the Grand Hall, the upper levels are better. We will be back, thanks for the exceptional service all around.
