The Titanic Gendarmenmarkt is a 5-star hotel in the heart of Berlin, just five minutes' walk from Museum Island. Newly opened in March 2015, the hotel occupies a historic 18th century building on Französische Straße, just around the corner from Gendarmenmarkt square, where you'll find Berlin's Concert House, the Französischer Dom (a domed French Cathedral with a viewing platform) and the Deutscher Dom, which now houses an exhibition on parliamentary history.
"The Gendarmenmarkt area is Berlin at its ritziest, dappled with luxury hotels, fancy restaurants and bars", says Lonely Planet. It is an ideal location for exploring Berlin's sights -- the hotel is a short stroll from UNESCO-listed Museum Island, which is home to five world-class museums, and a 15-minute walk from Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie.
The hotel's Beef Grill Club by Hasir restaurant has a show kitchen and specialises in dry-aged beef and Turkish dishes. It's open for dinner from Monday-Saturday, and on warm days guests can dine on the Mediterranean terrace in the open air. The Schinkel Bar serves up classic cocktails and snacks, and hosts live acts every week. The hotel also has a 2-storey spa with a Turkish hammam, a steam room, a dry sauna with an ice fountain, and three spa suites for massages and beauty treatments (extra charge).
The rooms have a theatrical look inspired by the building's former life as the Staatsoper costume warehouse. Bedrooms have views of the courtyard or Französische Straße, and all offer free Wi-Fi. Deluxe Rooms are larger than the standard Classic Rooms.
