The hotel is in the Derbyshire village of Milford, and there is lots to do in the area. The hotel is less than 15 minutes' drive from Kedleston Hall, a "spectacular 18th-century mansion with [Robert] Adam interiors and parkland", according to the National Trust.
The hotel is close to the River Derwent and there are lots of local heritage walks in the Derwent Valley, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its history of cotton production.
The edge of the Peak District National Park is a 30-minute drive away. Chatsworth House near Bakewell (home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire) and Haddon Hall, a Tudor country house with Elizabethan gardens, are less than 50-minutes' drive away. You can also explore the market town of Bakewell, home of the Bakewell pudding and "ringed by famous walking trails and stately homes", according to Lonely Planet.
The conservatory restaurant serves local and seasonal ingredients and has views of the garden.
