Great stay! The jazz club downstairs is awesome, we saw a burlesque show our last night. The restaurants are good, the grounds are beautiful. Close to everything and right in the middle of the Bourbon St action! Staff was great, and security 24/7 made us feel safe. Would definitely go back!

Beautiful hotel and great staff. Our room unfortunately was located right on Bourbon Street so it was very loud every night until 2-3 am. Wish we had a courtyard room which would’ve been much quieter.

The hotel is very conveniently located and the price was less than most places in the area so it was a good value. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had a room on the back of the hotel and it was very quiet, even being on Bourbon St

The hotel wanted to charge us $50 to check in 2 hours early. I was told it was usually $75 but they would let us do it for $50. When I declined, they said they would call when the room was ready, and they called about 30 minutes later. When we asked about late check out, we were told it would be $75 for one extra hour. Check out is later than most places, at noon, but it is ridiculous to charge that much for an extra hour. I don't know if they were trying to make more money from us since we did get a deal through Travelzoo, or if their standard policy is $75 to check in early, but we were able to do it for free half an hour later when they called. There was free bag check so we used that, but it was a little ridiculous.

The Royal Sonesta is in a great location right in the heart of the French Quarter. The public areas are well kept. The lobby complete with fresh flowers is beautiful. The R'evolution restaurant and bar are excellent as is the Jazz Playhouse. But...

The room was nothing special. The in-room amenities were minimal. No soap dish, Plastic and paper cups. Good closet and drawer space.
I requested an interior balcony room on an upper floor in a quiet location. Prior to our arrival, I contacted them to make sure they had the request. We arrived on Sunday evening, room was away from the elevator on the fourth floor. Great.
Did I pay extra to get a balcony? I hope not, because we never used it. There was construction going on in one form or another from 8 am to at least 5 pm. We had workers banging away right outside our window one afternoon. So was it quiet? No. Was it attractive to look at when the workers weren't there (and it was dark)? No. I looked back at information from the Royal Sonesta. They said the pool was closed, never said it was under construction.
So, would I recommend this hotel or go back? Maybe.

Stayed one night before leaving on a cruise. I've been to NO many times but never stayed on Bourbon Street. The location can't be beat. The room was average in size but we weren't in it for long. Payed 189 through Travelzoo and was very pleased with everything. I found a parking garage about 2 blocks away for $15.00 per day using the SpotHero app and avoided the very expensive hotel parking.

We were pleasantly surprised to find this hotel right In Bourbon street. The hotel is very clean well maintained. We have booked a room with courtyard view and we were glad we did because it is the quiet side of the hotel. The staff were very approachable and helpful. The Valet was very convenient, easy and fast. Our room was cozy and the bed was very comfortable. You can access the bars, restaurants from the courtyard and you don’t need to go out In Bourbon street. And the location is just perfect and right in the middle of the activities In Bourbon street and very close to the French Market, Jackson Square, and the Canal Street.

Everyone was nice. The hotel was a bit run down in certain areas and our room was not ready i.e. no shower curtain when we checked in and no trashcan in the bathroom. Overall, everything was satisfactory.

It was confused about the amenities i.e. which restuarants were part of the hotel. Would have been nice is hotel guests got a discount on the jazz shows - even if it was $5 per ticket.

Everything was wonderful. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing I had a little problem with was in your description of the room I was lead to believe I would have a balcony or a courtyard or pool view and I did not. Not that we spent much time in the room ( so it didn’t matter) but I thought you should know.

We booked a delux room with a full window as we were offered the ceiling window room and we avoided it. We chose a full window room overlooking the patio, pool, or the quarter. St check in I asked the attendant at the reception to see if he can give us a nice room as it was our 35th anniversary. He said I can upgrade you to a balcony
For $50 extra. Usually it is a $100. I didn’t want
yo pay any extra so we declined. He gave us a room with the window in the ceiling like a prison cell. I felt like he downgraded our room so he can teach us a lesson. I called the front desk and paid the extra $100 and didn’t want to argue. The try to milk you for every penny. In this case he punished us for not going along with his offer. I guess they get a spiff from the upgrade I love travel zoo. I wouldn’t go back the the Royal Sonesta NO.
thanks

It was in the heart of the French Quarter, near to lots to do. We had a courtyard view but could hear the noise from Bourbon St on Friday night until 11pm. Then it was like someone threw a switch and the noise went away. It's a beautiful hotel and Cafe Beignet is across the street for those first beignets in the morning!

The Royal Sonesta is a little Oasis right off Bourbon Street (which has become quite funky again.). The Jazz Playhouse is our favorite club for music. First, the hotel swimming pool was under renovation and didn’t advise us in advance. One of the major factor we’ve decided to booked this trip was because of the heated outdoor pool they have advertised and was not told that was closed down. We felt we have wasted not only our money but more importantly was our precious vacation time off!!! Secondly, the front desk staff was not friendly at all, from the time we checked in. We didn’t feel welcome at all. Lastly, all my lifetime travel experience, I’ve NEVER encountered “maid service” knocking at our door few times during morning hours STARTING at 8:40am!!! Especially at an environment known for night life. They do that both morning during our stay. We asked for the “Do NOT DISTURB” sign, which they don’t have. It’s pretty ridiculous!

The rooms were dated and dirty. The rooms are not advertised as it looks. When I asked the front desk people to clean the room for 11, they said my room had the do not disturb. They had no urgency or sensitivity towards a customer saying the room was dirty. I also had a large roach in my room to add onto that. Above all the room wasn’t what it made up to be.
