We booked a interior balcony room. We received the interior walkout balcony room that leads directly out to the pool and pool bar area. This being our 1st time to New Orleans we have nothing to compare as far as hotels go. Our room was small and dated. The curtain mechanism for the balcony door was old and tattered so that we had to squeeze through to get out of it. The bed was comfy...room temperature great..bathroom clean. The pool area was nice during the daylight hours only. We saw mice running around in the evening at the pool area including balconies. Needless to say I did not go out there at night! The hotel lobby area is beautiful which leads you to think the rooms will be the same..no The interior (balcony, courtyard, pool areas) need a deep cleaning and rehabilitation. It looks old and dirty. The front desk staff were nice but all were not helpful when asked about local dining spots. The bellhop and security staff were nice and very helpful. If you want to be in the action then this is the perfect location directly on Bourbon St. We will choose a much nicer well maintained hotel if we decide to visit New Orleans again. A location away from the loudness and filth of Bourbon St. We stayed in room 3081.

This was my first solo trip with my mom. We celebrated her 88th birthday while in New Orleans and had a blast. Everyone was so polite and accommodating. The Royal Sonesta New Orleans staff was superb and Wilbur provided top-notch care and made my mom feel special. Thank you to the entire staff. Well done.

The only caveat I have is to make sure to book a room on the quieter side of the hotel. The staff was great, especially Michelle at check in.

The hotel is beautiful and has that wonderful NOLA charm! The location is perfect, right in the middle of things, but it doesn't feel like that when you are inside the hotel. The pool is big and very nice, the service was excellent. We will definitely stay there again!

The hotel was great. Really nice but I did not like the location. I don’t feel safe walking the streets around the hotel area. Streets are very dirty and smell very bad. We walked about one block from the hotel then turned around to go back inside because we don’t feel safe. The interior of the hotel was very nice and clean. The gym was great as well love it.
