The Meritage Resort and Spa

Travelzoo Staff

Why We Love It

  • It's rated AAA 4-Diamond and sits on 32 acres of vineyards with its own tasting cellar
  • The surrounding area is bit industrial-park heavy, but you forget once you're in a poolside cabana overlooking the vineyards
  • There's lots to do --  take hikes, bowl the hotel's luxe lanes or slip into the spa "cave," set 40 feet underground with steam grottos
  • The artistic vibe of downtown and Napa Premium Outlets are a 10-minute drive away

Rolling hills and sun-drenched vineyards define Napa Valley. Get a taste of this good life when you indulge at the AAA 4-Diamond Meritage Resort and Spa, centrally located in Napa Valley. The property’s 32 acres provide ample together-time opportunities to hike the hillside vineyard, catch a game at the sports bar and relax with a treatment in the underground cave where the spa resides.

Unwind 40 feet below ground at Spa Terra, a hushed luxury environment offering organic facials, aromatherapy massages and steam grottos. In the evening, snuggle near the outdoor fireplaces or warm up in the whirlpool.

A bottle of wine awaits guests in resort rooms, many of which have patios and vineyard views. Bathrooms are finished with travertine tile and marble-topped vanities.

Napa Valley isn't just for wine tasting. Guests can also take in a performance at the opera house or reflect at one of the area’s art galleries.

Guests are responsible for a $20 nightly resort fee that covers welcome bottle of wine, daily bottled waters, Wi-Fi access, self and valet parking and evening shuttle service to downtown.

Enjoyed Most: The resort itself is nice
Other Comments: Reservation logistics and lack of customer service

Other Comments: Every restaurant onsite was atrocious in terms of service. We had to wait 25 minutes for chicken wings and two beers with an uncrowded dining area at Crush. Sienna for dinner it was even worse. Every phase of the meal was like pulling teeth: ordering, finally getting our food, trying to get the check. The couple across from us actually got up and left without the woman ever getting her meal while the man had already finished his. We shared this with the manager who offered us free dessert, which we declined out of fear we'd have to end up staying another 30 minutes.

Enjoyed Most: The room was beautiful.
Other Comments: When we checked out, we were overcharged fit the room and also had been overcharged at the pool by $150! It took forever to clear up. It wasted a couple of hours of our wine tasting day. Not good.

Joseph Jul 08, 2014 Sacramento, CA, United States
Enjoyed Most: Room, although the refrigerator was noisy.
Other Comments: Concierge was a novice. Tried hard, but poor follow up when I asked her to cancel items. She also pushed too much for us to attend a condo sales presentation (we did not). At breakfast, restaurant host would not take our names for a list, but said "we're not seating now" and walked away. That was a FIRST. Internet was slow and didn't work in the fitness center.
