Map & Directions

The hotel is five minutes' walk from Venice's Santa Lucia railway station. From Marco Polo airport, the cheapest option is to take the ATVO airport shuttle, which drops passengers in Venice's Piazzale Roma (five minutes' walk from the hotel). Tickets are 8€ each way and can be purchased at the airport.

Overview

Venice is "a city unlike any other" (Fodor's), with its canals, ornate churches, museums and architecture. Explore its sights from the Hotel Carlton on the Grand Canal, right on the waterfront.

The traditional hotel is in the Santa Croce district and overlooks the Grand Canal, Venice's key waterway. It is a 20-minute walk from the Gallerie dell'Accademia, which has a fine collection of art dating from the 14th-18th centuries. St. Mark's Square, where you'll find the Doge's Palace, St. Mark's Basilica and the Torre dell'Orologio, is 25 minutes' walk away. Santa Lucia train station is a five-minute stroll from the hotel.

The hotel's La Cupola restaurant serves authentic Venetian fare, or you can stop off for an aperitif at the Carlton Café. The rooftop terrace (open May-September) offers panoramic city views.

Rooms are decorated in 18th-century Venetian style, with Murano glass chandeliers, ornate furnishings and rich damask fabric wall coverings. Superior Rooms are larger than the standard Classic Rooms. Patio Rooms are more modern and overlook the gardens. All rooms have free Wi-Fi.

The 4th floor bar and restaurant. The head man was wonderful greeted everyone when he knew we were celebrating our wedding anniversary he brought a beautifully presented cake complete with candle it was a lovely surprise.

Hotel reception were polite. Breakfast was okay thing special for the price paid but servers were all very nice. Hotel location very convenient for pharmacy, restaurants, shopping and easy to get to St Mark's square.

I search for 3 people occupancy under Travelzoo and booked a superior room as it was pulled out under this search. On arrival I was told room fits 2 and I must pay additional for breakfast and sleep 3 on one bed or upgrade to a bigger room with an extra bed..... I thought I booked the superior with canal view three for the price of three people occupancy. The room was very outdated nothing like the photo shown on the revel zoo website or hotel website. Can hardly squeeze our way into bathroom and not to mention the shower and we are all slim. When told staff a spider crawling on the ceiling, instead of vacuuming it, he took a can of "chemical" sprayed it so spider fell down and the staff fled the room when he sees the spider falling. No intention to pick it up and who knows what chemical he was using and if that was bad for us. The spider fled because we could not locate it! It was 11:00 pm so we could not open windows to ventilate as we could end up with mosquito problem. This hotel is not a 4- star.
