Heacham Manor Hotel is an "attractive" (The AA Restaurant Guide 2016) 16th-century property with three AA Silver Stars and an AA-Rosette restaurant. This Grade II-listed building dating from 1580 sits on the edge of the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Food at the hotel's Mulberry Restaurant is "staunchly seasonal and driven by a sincere belief in local sourcing", according to The AA. It also serves a selection of winter-warmer cocktails. The Manor Bar's real log fire makes it perfect for cold winter evenings. The golf club's Avocet Bar is open to hotel guests and has a west-facing sundeck and Sky Sports TV. Bedrooms are "stylish" (The AA), with Standard Rooms located in the barn conversions adjacent to the main building. There is a beauty retreat on site and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

The first inhabitants of Heacham Manor are thought to have been French monks, and there are rumours of an underground tunnel linking the property with a ruined Hunstanton chapel. Today, the house has a winding driveway, characterful chimney stacks and a golf course intersected by two rivers.

Hunstanton's SEA LIFE centre is five minutes' drive from the hotel, while Sandringham Estate and Snettisham Park -- a 329-acre working farm -- are within 15 minutes' drive. The market town of King's Lynn is 30 minutes by car. The Norfolk Broads, with their picturesque "windmill-framed rivers" (Lonely Planet), are around 90 minutes' drive.

Other Comments: we booked heacham through travel zoo for £109 b/b for 2nights I did put on the any request booking form that we would be bringing a small dog, when i rang a couple of days before arrival to book a table for dinner I mentioned the request i was then told they would have to upgrade my room at the cost of £30 a night and £10 a night for the dog, an extra £80 so is was not such good deal, If i had been informed of the excess when i booked i would have made different arrangements, and as we did eat and drink there, it turned out to be a very expensive weekend
