As Quebec City expanded out and around its historic core, this atmospheric center was wisely preserved. The neighborhood is now an appealing tangle of cobblestone streets and uneven rooftops, pulled close to the shores of the St. Lawrence River. Le Saint-Pierre Auberge fills in a 200-year-old building on a narrow lane that was early Quebec City’s version of Wall Street. The financial wealth is apparent in the building’s solid masonry, decorative scrollwork and generous proportions.

When the hotel underwent a $500,000 polishing-up in 2013, contractors paid close attention to maintaining period touches. The original sturdy stone walls enclose the rooms, which are lined with new, yet period-appropriate, wainscoting and oak window frames. Original wood floors are covered with simple sisal rugs and topped with clean-lined furnishings in soothing neutral taupe and gray tones. The common areas have plush leather furniture and stained glass windows and light fixtures, while hallways have painted frescoes of the city.

Directly across the street is the Musee de la Civilisation, with a revolving schedule of diverse exhibitions showcasing Haitian artists, modern Inuits, the history of Quebec’s people, 1970s video games, and more. A few blocks south is the Place Royale, a particularly well-preserved hive of 1600s inns and churches that made up “New France.”

Enjoyed Most: The entire offering was great: a boutique hotel with modern design rooms. Great staff and service! Located right in Old town. What's more is that they offer a complimentary breakfast - restaurant style and not just a buffet.
Other Comments: - a Fabulous boutique hotel in Old Quebec with all the modernities you require. We arrived late on a Thursday night (well in the early hours of Friday). Our room was on the first floor - which is one floor above the front desk. We had a room with a Queen bed which was nicely decorated. It's not what you will find a chain hotel but it was certainly nice for a boutique hotel! Our room also came with a whirlpool tub (for 1 person); we didn't use the feature but having it there was a bonus! We stayed 4 nights - on a deal through Travel zoo and were very happy with the choice. Each morning we were greeted with a complimentary breakfast on the main level in a restaurant atmosphere. We expected a breakfast buffet but instead were surprised with a proper sit down restaurant style service! The menu is small but has a good variety (eggs and meat, French Toast, crepes, pastries, fruits, bagels, sandwiches). My wife and I tried different items the first three days and on our last day we opted f

Enjoyed Most: Excellent service, delicious full breakfast (included!) and fabulous location in lower town. It is located right across the street from the Museum of Civilization and a 5-minute walk to the water front. From the valet parking to the front desk staff and servers in the restaurant at breakfast, everything was superior!
Other Comments: The rooms, and especially the bathrooms, were suite sized. Couple that with the exposed brick walls on 2 sides and you have a great hotel. Our view to the left was the roof of the Château Frontenac and the University of Laval was on the right.
