Spain’s capital is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city where history, art, cuisine and music combine to charm visitors and locals alike. “No city is more alive than Madrid”, says Lonely Planet, and you’ll be staying in an excellent spot to experience all it has to offer at the Hotel Siete Islas.
Located on a quiet street, off the Gran Via, the hotel is within walking distance to the Retiro Park, Thyssen Bornemisza Museum and the Prado Museum. The Centro Histórico is also only a 12-minute walk and the lively Malasaña, Cheuca and Lavapiés districts are easy accessible. The Gran Via metro station is just around the corner for journeys further afield and connections to the airport.
Siete Islas means seven islands and the hotel’s design revolves around the seven Canary Islands. Each room is themed to a Canary village, and the décor is summery throughout. The lobby is particularly impressive, with modern art installations, a bar that is open until 11pm and a computer for guest’s use. There are also two bikes available for hire, and a public gym nearby that guests can use (5€ per day).
Upstairs, the bedrooms are more classic than the lobby, but Wi-Fi is free (request a code from reception) and there is a mini-bar and air conditioning throughout. Upgrade to one of the three Junior Suites on the top floor for your own terrace to enjoy the city views. A varied buffet breakfast is served on the first floor in the mornings, including fresh fruit, Spanish ham, eggs, pastries and more.
