Danubius Hotel Regents Park is a deluxe hotel in St John's Wood. It overlooks Regent's Park and is 15 minutes' walk from Baker Street, made famous by Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes novels.

Regent's Park -- "one of London's finest parks" (Rough Guides), and originally Henry VIII's hunting ground -- is five minutes' walk away. The park is home to ZSL London Zoo (a 20-minute walk from the hotel or 10 minutes by 274 bus), a boating lake and formal gardens.

Lord's Cricket Ground is five minutes' walk from the hotel, and the leafy streets of Marylebone (home to upscale restaurants, cafés and boutiques) take 20 minutes on foot. The number 13 bus stops two minutes away from the hotel and will take you to Oxford Street in 15 minutes, and to Theatreland in 25.

Minsky's Restaurant serves a carvery buffet on Saturday evening and Sunday lunchtime, as well as daily breakfast. The hotel's Pavilion Lounge Bar is closed for complete renovation until January, 2017. A new bar has been set up in the restaurant, which offers the Pavilion's usual daily à la carte and set menus.

Standard Rooms are the smallest room category; opt for a Superior Room for more space. Executive Rooms are on the eighth and ninth floors and have views over Regent's Park and Lord's.

The breakfast!

The hotel is at St John's Wood which we thought might be a bit of a pain but it is very near the tube station and it's easy to go into the heart of London on the Jubilee Line. The hotel's main entrance is round the back of the route from St John's Wood tube but once you've checked in you can just swipe your room card to use the entrance you can see as you approach the hotel, which is actually at its rear. The lobby, bar and breakfast room were smart and while our room was dated, i.e. dark wood which was chipped on the bedside table, it was clean and had everything we required - apart from a second bedside table! It was useful to have a small fridge. The staff were all extremely pleasant, which created a good atmosphere.

The standard of the hotel, the excellent staff, the room was very spacious and clean.
Other Comments
The room was a bit warm and breakfast service could have been a bit better, although if you leave your seat to go and fetch something, when you get back your breakfast that you were in the middle of is taken away, so you have to start again. Not good for a solo traveler.
