"Luxury-jungle escape" -- Travel + Leisure
Why We Love It
- Sprawled over 12 acres of tropical gardens, near Manuel Antonio National Park
- Secluded beach and three pools on site (one with a swim-up bar)
- Impressive suites, with open-air Jacuzzis and amazing views
Set on a headland overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the sprawling Parador Resort & Spa is a "luxury-jungle escape," saysTravel + Leisure. It’s right on the edge of the Manuel Antonio National Park (worth a visit for its dramatic scenery and rare wildlife), but those who don’t make it off-campus can explore the resort’s 12 acres of tropical grounds, teeming with iguanas, sloths and all manner of monkeys.
The resort is good for families, with plenty to do on site, including mini golf and tennis, and all suites come with fold-out sofa beds. There's also a regular free shuttle service to the beaches in town, or it's a 15-minute walk along a forested trail to the hotel's beach.
The restaurants offer a family-friendly mix of international buffet dishes, tapas snacks and Latin American cuisine. During the day, enjoy a treatment at the spa (the cappuccino scrub is a real highlight), or relax in one of the three pools, one of which has a swim-up bar. There’s also a 24-hour gym and self-service laundry, which is handy for longer stays.
Rooms have tiled floors, colonial fans and dark-wood furniture, and showers over bathtubs. Pricier rooms are also simply furnished, but with the added bonus of ocean vistas from the balconies. Suites in the newer Las Suites tower -- accessed by an outdoor elevator -- are the most luxurious, with open-air Jacuzzis on the balconies and amazing views. There’s also a separate adults-only pool for those staying in this part of the resort.
