Set in acres of beautifully landscaped grounds amid Pembrokeshire National Park, and only two miles from secluded beaches along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, this Georgian mansion is now the 4-star Lamphey Court Hotel & Spa -- a stylish luxury hotel with a state-of-the-art spa.

In addition to its own extensive grounds and beach, the hotel offers ample scenic delights for walkers and nature lovers along the rugged Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, which National Geographic describes as "one of the most scenic hiking paths in Europe". It is also near other interesting attractions such as the well-preserved mediaeval ruins of Lamphey Bishop's Palace (a 4-minute walk); Pembroke Castle, with its fascinating history, towers, passageways, exhibitions, 80-foot-high keep, dungeon and pre-historic cave providing hours of exploring fun (a 49-minute walk or a 5-minute drive from the hotel; a 7-minute bus ride costs £2); and the ancient walled seaside town of Tenby (15 minutes by car from the hotel), and its famous, picturesque harbour, profusion of multi-colour houses, attractive sandy beaches and hilltop views overlooking Caldey Island, which you can visit by boat.
The hotel has 38 rooms with views over the area and free Wi-Fi (note: some visitors have found the connection intermittent); family rooms and suites -- most of which are not in the main building -- include a kitchenette and additional seating areas. Pets are allowed, and there are also wheelchair-adapted available. A complimentary breakfast is included in the room price.
There's a romantic, candle-lit restaurant and a casual conservatory eatery with a patio, both serving locally sourced seafood and organic produce, including a selection of Welsh cheeses. A traditional afternoon tea is available, along with a popular Sunday roast, and there's also a lounge bar. The Lifestyles Leisure Centre and Spa has an indoor pool, a gym, a steam room and a hot tub, and there are also floodlit tennis courts for outdoor sports. Other amenities at the hotel include a business centre, event space and free on-site parking.

Enjoyed Most: Wonderful building and location. Could be amazing with properly trained and positive attitude staff. They did have a sit down wedding reception on same day so may have affected food waiting time but could have been planned for
Other Comments: Waiting staff didn't have much of a clue. Ordered main course for dinner with no starter and waiting 45 mins then complained. Another guest ordered quiche and it was still frozen when served. Poor waiting staff attitude and they had no supervision. On leaving they couldn't access my booking to see how much I owed for drinks so waived that so that was a plus. Poor attention to cleaning of room. Too much residual dust on many areas of suite.

Other Comments: You really must get your administration sorted out. Since Sunday 22 March I have raised a complaint through you about Lamphey Court. This is most unprofessional.

Enjoyed Most: Yes lots. A beautiful setting and attentive courteous staff.
Other Comments: The food was cold both at dinner and at breakfast and I was overcharged in the final bill. It was a mistake but added to the sense of disappointment.

Enjoyed Most: Good food, friendly, helpful staff, comfortable room
Other Comments: Had some problems understanding one member of bar staff, he was very helpful but perhaps they should have waited until his English was a little better before putting him in a face to face position with customers
Tanya Feb 07, 2015 Cardiff, United Kingdom
Enjoyed Most: The location and leisure facilities. Staff were courteous and helpful.
Other Comments: The dining room was draughty and the bedroom which we upgraded was cold, the radiator inadequate for the size of room. There were dead flies lodged in the bathroom window. The duvet cover wasn't big enough for the bed. This was a break to celebrate our Golden wedding anniversary so felt rather let down.
