Map & Directions

London Heathrow is just under an hour’s drive from the hotel, or you can take the Oxford bus to Gloucester Green, the S3 to Woodstock (get off at the Marlborough Arms, a 2-minute walk from the hotel) -- this journey will take around 2 hours. The closest train station is Hanborough, an 8-minute drive away. If you’re driving, there are 40 complimentary parking spaces available.

Housed in a former 13th century coaching inn covered with ivy, this 4-star country-style hotel in Oxfordshire has plenty of traditional English charm and history -- Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton are said to have stayed here.

It’s in the picturesque town of Woodstock, 20 minutes’ drive from the historic spires and colleges of Oxford. Next door is the Oxfordshire Museum, and the hotel is only 13 minutes’ walk from the 18th-century Blenheim Palace, the grand residence of the dukes of Marlborough, surrounded by parkland and close to the banks of the River Glyme.

Blenheim may be the area’s major attraction, but the hotel’s 2 AA-Rosette restaurant is a definite draw for guests. With an open fireplace and large bay windows, it offers a British menu that uses local and seasonal ingredients, and a long list of wines. Look for dishes such as pan-roasted Gressingham duck with sweetcorn fritters and salsa, or squid ink risotto with tiger prawns and salsify. The Churchill Lounge is slightly more casual, serving coffees and exotic teas, as well as salads, sandwiches and burgers to go with the views of the market square outside.

The 54 individually and traditionally styled rooms have Freeview TVs as well as free WiFi. Some rooms have features such as exposed wood beams, 4-poster or canopy beds -- many have Nespresso machines. Spacious Feature Rooms and Suites are adorned with antiques and there are also Family Rooms and Accessible Rooms, the latter with views over the courtyard.
