The Ridge at Playa Grande
Why We Love This Hotel
- Spacious villas stretch from one to three bedrooms and have private balconies
- An infinity pool lets swimmers drift between sea views and a swim-up bar
- A smaller-scale property means thinner crowds around the pool
- Less than a mile from Cabo San Lucas’ restaurants and bars
The southern, seafront tip of Cabo San Lucas is speckled with the coppery wedges of natural rock formations. Tucked in among them on a raised bluff, The Ridge Luxury Villas have great views in nearly all directions, from the marina to the sea.
The property is intimate, with fewer than 100 rooms, meaning the crowds found at some Cabo megaresorts won’t fit in here. Villas only come in ample sizes, from one bedroom up to three-bedroom suites. All have a private balcony, along with a stocked kitchen and huge, granite-framed bathrooms.
There are several pools, including an adults-only infinity pool with a swim-up bar, waterslide and Jacuzzis. The Ridge Restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine, and guests can also walk down the hill to the sister property Playa Grande, where they can book at table at Brigantine, which serves Mexican spiced steak and seafood.
Along with its smaller scale, this property tends to attract more adults and couples, and is generally a more quiet escape from the boisterous family-friendly resorts nearby. Nightclubs, restaurants and bars cluster around Cabo’s marina, which starts 10 minutes by foot from the villas. A water taxi whisks travelers to the far side of the marina where there are more upscale shops and restaurants.
