Why We Love This Hotel
- Just a few minutes' walk from the futuristic City of Arts & Sciences
- Close to the Turia Gardens -- 9km of green parkland in the centre of Valencia
- Perfect for summer -- there's a rooftop bar & an outdoor pool opens in summer 2016
- Easy transport links to the Old Town & the beach
A large modern block in an even more modern area of the city, the 4-star Barceló Valencia's biggest draw is its location by the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences) and Turia Gardens -- nine kilometres of green parkland that follows an old river bed.
The hotel is a few minutes' walk from the futuristic Arts and Sciences complex, which houses a science museum, an aquarium, an opera house and an IMAX cinema. The Old Town is 30-minutes' walk away -- stroll along the Turia Gardens -- or hop on a number 19 bus. Check out the cathedral, the World Heritage site of La Lonja, or the Modernist covered market. The beach is a 30-minute bus ride (the number 19, again) in the opposite direction.
There are plenty of dining options nearby, but if you're at the hotel, the El Senyoret restaurant serves a range of Mediterranean dishes. A rooftop bar, 270°, is open in summer and a heated outdoor pool is due to open in the summer of 2016. There's also a spa (charges apply for use; book in advance), which features a Finnish sauna, a Turkish bath and a range of treatments.
Rooms all feature free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning and LCD TVs. Privacy can be an issue as bathroom doors are often just frosted glass. Upgrade for more space or a view of the Arts and Sciences complex -- suites offer two separate sleeping areas (useful for families).
