The Ivy House Country Hotel is close to the market town of Lowestoft, nestled on the banks of Oulton Broad within 21 acres of gardens, lawns, ponds, marshes and thatched barns, with direct access to the Broads.

The hotel is in the Broads National Park, and you can stroll into the village of Oulton Broad directly from the hotel's gardens. Full of scenic waterways and wildlife, the park also has plenty of walking and cycling routes, or you can access it by boat and moor up to explore the nearby villages and waterside pubs.

The promenade and sandy beaches to the south of Lowestoft are a 5-minute drive from the hotel, with plenty of options for coastal walks. Local attractions including Africa Alive!, Pleasurewood Hills and the seaside village of Southwold are within 20 minutes by car. The coastal resort of Great Yarmouth and the Suffolk Coast National Nature Reserve are less than 30 minutes' drive away.

An extensive refurbishment programme was completed in 2014 with the addition of Eve's Bar, which has panoramic views over the gardens, ponds and over to the Broads. It's a great spot for a cream tea, a pre-dinner drink or a bar snack. You can also order a picnic hamper to enjoy at one of the many picnic tables within the grounds.

For fine-dining, head to the Crooked Barn Restaurant, which has maintained a 2-AA-Rosette rating for 12 years. Head chef Martin Whitelock serves a menu of local and seasonal ingredients in the characterful 16th-century barn. The AA Restaurant Guide 2016 says the restaurant is the "ace up [the hotel's] sleeve", noting its "abundance of character".

All rooms come with large beds, flat-screen TVs and homemade biscuits that are waiting in the room on arrival.

An impressive 99% of Travelzoo members who rated their stay at this hotel loved it, praising the “large and airy rooms”, “excellent service” and “fantastic food”.
