The hotel was in a good position for visiting different places in Cornwall and it was on the outer edge of Newquay .Some staff were pleasant and helpful others much less so.

We arrived at 4pm on Sunday. We walked through narrow corridors littered with bedding and trays of used glasses and dirty food plates outside rooms. We eventually found the room we had been directed to only to find it was a family room with a double, bunk beds and a single bed. We had booked a twin room. I immediately phoned down to reception to make this clear. The manager wanted us to have this room but I was insistent we wanted a twin. He asked us to give him a half hour to sort it. We went for a walk during this time and googled other places to stay in case we needed to. At 5 pm the room was ready and better than the original one and had a sea view. It got us off to a bad start though after a 3 hour journey. Two out of three mornings my teacup was dirty. On our final evening there was a power cut for half an hour in our part of the hotel just as we had got in to relax after a busy day, around 7.30pm, so we sat in a dark room waiting for the electricity to come back on.

Slightly tired, although clean, rooms obviously had not been checked after the last guest as an item of clothing was left on the floor. Breakfast was disorganised, possibly through lack of staff

The food in the sixty bistro was delicious.

The hotel needs modernising, the rooms were less than basic and could have done with a redecoration. The spa facility needed repairing as in the steam room had tiles missing on the seating area. The water fountain in the area was also broken. At breakfast I waited 20 minutes before anyone took my order, and this was only addressed when I approached waitress. I would go to say as good customer service was hit and miss. I believe if all of these are addressed I'm sure the hotel would be improved. All it needs is a little tlc.
