Overview

Turquoise water, a tranquil lagoon and white-sand beaches beckon at the 4.5-star Belize Ocean Club on the northern end of the Placencia Peninsula in Belize. Laze away the afternoon from the comforts of a beach chair or hammock, or take a dip in the beachfront infinity pool. Grab a snorkel and explore the vibrant sea life of the Caribbean right from the beach. Complimentary use of paddleboards and kayaks makes it easy to explore the water from above.

Accommodations at this all-suite resort are modern and airy with ample natural light. The fully furnished suites start at 900 square feet but feel even larger thanks to French doors that open out onto large, private patios. All suites have air-conditioning, and the bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms.

Linger over a casual meal at the Latitude Beach Bar, just steps from the beach. For a more formal affair, head to 16 Degrees, located on the lagoon side of the resort. You can even arrange for a candlelit dinner right on the sand, complete with your own personal waiter.

In addition to the on-site activities (including dive demos, casting clinics and beach toys), the resort offers a number of inland and ocean excursions. Visit Mayan ruins, zip-line through the rain forest or take a boat tour down Monkey River for great bird-watching and monkey-sighting. The hotel can also arrange excursions to explore the Belize Barrier Reef -- the largest barrier reef in the Caribbean and the second largest in the world.

Close to a couple really good places to eat.

Were not organized, changed rooms 3 times to find an air conditioning working, and rude.

More feedback: - At checking, we requested cooking utensils. 3 days later, we still did not get them, until we went back to the front desk to fuss. Having cooking utensils already in the rooms would add value to ones stay. - Cash is promoted as an option for purchases, more often than not, they did not have change. Disclosing this beforehand should be done. We ended up walking to nearby hotels to have delicious meals, where change was readily available. - Charging purchases to the room is by an honor system. Provide your room number & you settle with the front desk. Someone else had charged breakfast to our room, & which they removed when we pointed that out. Having a better system to charge to ones room would improve ones stay. - For future stays, as we did not do water activities, the quiet nature of the area can make more than a 2-3 day stay dull. Having a car to sightsee is ideal as the resort charges an exaggerated amount for tours. - Carry bug spray! All else was pleasant.

Excellent service and great pool, poolside bar, and beach. Eating at table on the beach was awesome as well as their restaurant. The rooms were also excellent. Large, spacious, great views of the lagoon.

A little far from the town of Placencia where most of the shops, restaurants, and activities are....they could offer more shuttle service to/from there..

Very nice facilities and friendly staff. The hotel is not in Placencia so it is best to have a rental car if you want to go town multiple times. Cabs and shuttle are also available but not as easy as jumping in your car. I felt like the tours the hotel offered were quite over priced so we also used the car to do our own tours. You can go to Placencia and get most tours a lot cheaper. The wanted $185 per person for 2 hours of cave tubing for instance. The hotel itself is quite nice and up to date. Our room had a full kitchen which allowed us to cook fresh fish that we caught, although we did have to ask room service to bring us pots and pans as they weren't in the room. The on site restaurant, 16 degrees, is quite nice and prices are what you would expect to pay in the US.

Beautiful resort and location, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

The location is a bit far from Placencia village. The resort offers a free shuttle, but it would be easier if there were more than 2 times available per day.

The staff was super nice and the room overall was pretty nice, not a 5 star but maybe 4. We had a two bedroom suite on the top floor and view was amazing. The ocean wasn't good to swim in because of all the sea grass, couldn't even see the bottom in just one ft of water.
Other Comments
We didn't get to enjoy the beach. There was all this sea grass on the beach line, and it was smelly. They tried somewhat to clear it daily. The pool was in dire need of repairs. My 9 yr son had $40 stolen from his wallet in the room. And someone took my flip flops at the pool area. But we still had fun.

I enjoyed the shuttle to and from Placencia best. It allowed you to immerse into Belizian culture. I made quite a few friends! I also enjoyed the several delicious cocktails and food from 16 Degrees restaurant. I am also very glad that there was air conditioning in the rooms.
Other Comments
I wish there was an all inclusive package offered. The staff was very nice and welcoming!

The staff was extremely friendly.
Other Comments
The prices for food and drinks were too expensive at the resort. We met many families that did what we did and ate offsite. The kitchens didn't have adequate utensils for cooking. Fix these problems, and you have a great setup.
