Overview

With its Georgian buildings, winding streets and Roman baths, Bath is "the grandest and most elegant" city in England, according to Condé Nast Traveller. It can also be on the expensive side, but the 4-star Bailbrook Lodge is a reasonably priced option less than 10 minutes' drive from the city centre.

It has 15 bedrooms, five of which are Four Poster bedrooms, with views of the property's pretty gardens and the Avon Valley beyond. Rooms are individually designed with DVD players, iPod docking stations, cotton slippers and tea- and coffee-making facilities as standard in all rooms, and Wi-Fi is free throughout. There is no lift, so ask for a ground-floor room if anyone in your party has mobility requirements.

Cooked breakfast is made to order, and there is also a choice of pastries, cereal and fruit. Snacks, including afternoon tea, are served in the lounge throughout the day and there's a small bar. There is no on-site restaurant serving lunch or dinner but there are plenty of restaurants 10 minutes' drive away in central Bath, including Brasserie Brunel at sister property the Royal Hotel Bath. There are other dining options including riverside pubs within 10 minutes' walk of the hotel.

The hotel has plenty of free off-street parking, but finding parking in the city can be tricky. There is a bus stop a 5-minute walk from the property with a regular service into the city centre.

Great service with little extras that made a really nice touch. Breakfast was fabulous.

Massively over use of air freshener that made me wonder if they were trying to mask something. The smell never disserpated and was uncomfortouble. But other than that it was a great stay.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Wonderful breakfast. Ideal location.
Other Comments
An old fashioned guest house hotel but the staff were wonderful. The rooms clean and comfortable and had everything needed. There was free onsite parking and a bus stop a short distance away so getting into Bath without a car was so easy. One of the best breakfasts of anywhere we have visited. Would definately go back.

The afternoon champagne tea and champagne breakfast was lovely and loved the three course lunch at the Royal Brasserie but would have liked to have been for dinner as was a bit rushed after breakfast , but was lovely with a wide choice of food
Other Comments
Staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble for them, all the food and champagne was off a high standard, immediately after we booked we were called from the hotel and asked what time we would like to book afternoon tea for. Which I thought was a very nice touch. Have already reccomended to others. We thoroughly enjoyed our break.

Delightful people, lovely grade two listed building.

A very civilised place. Good parking on site and bus from bottom of drive takes you to centre of Bath. A longer walk enables you to stroll into town along Kennet and Avon canal. Quite delightful. Sister hotel in town serves excellent food when in town.

They took the trouble to get me some skimmed milk for breakfast, when they knew I preferred it, without being asked. Also the (very small ) bar prices are extremely attractive.

My partner and I stayed at the Bailbrook Lodge for two evenings to celebrate my partners birthday. Our deal included a 3 course lunch on both days at their sister hotel in the centre of Bath, afternoon tea and a glass of champagne on the day of arrival, full English breakfast each morning and a bottle of champagne in our room. We absolutely loved our stay with the Bailbrook Lodge and really can't fault our stay! The deal was such a good value for money and the location is great for access into the centre of Bath. Will definitely consider going back when visiting Bath in the future!
