Step from the plane at London Gatwick Airport into the spacious atrium of Sofitel London Gatwick, a 4-star hotel directly connected to the North Terminal.
The biggest reason to stay here is its proximity to the airport, but if you have time on your hands, there’s plenty to see. Local attractions include the Royal Botanic Gardens at Wakehurst Place, around 20 minutes by car, as well as Hever Castle (Tudor Queen Anne Boleyn’s childhood home) and the Bluebell Railway, which are both around a 40-minute drive. A little further afield, the beach at Brighton, Chessington World of Adventures and Arundel Castle are all around a 45-minute drive away. And, of course, central London is just 30 minutes away by train.
There are three on-site restaurants to cater for all tastes -- the 2-AA Rosette La Brasserie serves fine-dining French and modern British fare, Gatwick Oriental specialises in Asian cuisine, and the relaxed Urban Café offers light bites. For an aperitif, choose from a cocktail at the Kua Bar overlooking the lobby or drinks and snacks in La Terrasse lobby bar.
All 518 rooms have air conditioning, TVs, tea and coffee-making facilities, free WiFi, gym access and 24-hour room service. Many rooms are family-friendly with cribs and rollaway beds available on request. Luxury Club Rooms have free minibars and access to the Sofitel Club Lounge located on the 8th floor, which includes drinks and nibbles and a free light breakfast. Junior suites offer more space -- good for families.
