In the heart of Cape May's historic district, and half a block from the Atlantic Ocean, The Star Inn offers the experience of a classic beach hotel hand-in-hand with modern accommodations and access to upscale resort amenities.

A classic Victorian house -- perfectly at home in quaint Cape May -- the main inn features nine guest rooms. Located on the second and third floor, guest rooms are decorated in bright colors with nautical accents and feature fully renovated bathrooms and period furnishings. Couples find these cozy quarters charming and romantic, though guests should be prepared to find rooms on the smaller side.

Family-friendly efficiencies include a king-size bed, separate living area with pull-out couch, and kitchenette. In between trips to the beach, guests can relax on a rocking chair on a private balcony or unwind in a private backyard.

All room types feature modern heat and air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping and Aveda bath products. Beds are fitted with Belgian cotton sheets and Italian cotton duvet covers.

Star Inn guests can grab La Columbe coffee, juice, yogurt and fresh bakery items from the on-site coffee shop, or head across the street to sister-property Congress Hall for breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Blue Pig Tavern. A local favorite, this lively restaurant features fresh produce, meat and eggs from their own 62-acre farm just 2 miles away.

In fact, guests of the Star Inn receive access to all of Congress Hall's amenities, including the pool and beach service, complete with loungers, umbrellas, towels and tables.

Be sure to make time to stroll through the town -- Conde Nast Traveler readers named Cape May one of the 30 Best Small Cities in America in 2014, noting its "quiet beaches, low-key locals and gorgeous Victorian architecture."

Enjoyed Most: The location is good.
Other Comments: When we got there we got checked in and were given keys. When we got to the room on the third floor it was tiny with sparse, scratched furniture, a tiny closet you had to bend over to get into. The advertised town view was a black tar roof with an exhaust pike. We could only stand up straight in a small part of the room because it was sloped. Our son's dorm room at college is bigger than this! When we brought this to the attention of the front desk, they said they could give us a better room for $60 more. This is a typical bait and switch and Travel Zoo members should know this!

Enjoyed Most: We didn't stay at the Star Inn, due to the TravelZoo problem stated above. At our request, we were moved to another property, Congress Hall, which was lovely. The answers below will be answered about our stay at Congress Hall.
Other Comments: TravelZoo really let us down. Far in advance, we requested a first floor room due to medical reasons. We weren't told that the Star Inn didn't have first floor rooms until we called while on our way to confirm our arrival time.

Enjoyed Most: Nice get-a-way!

Enjoyed Most: Very comfy bed with many fluffy pillows
Other Comments: This was a lovely place to stay. The decor was "shabby chic" which fits with a 100+ year old inn and yes, there are narrow stairs, but the room was spacious and the bathroom was lovely, with marble touches and a large shower; and the location couldn't be beat, so: top marks for value-for-money!

Enjoyed Most: Clean, comfortable room. We walked most places we wanted to go and loved being so close to the beach.
Other Comments: Excellent fall getaway place!

Enjoyed Most: We love the Star on its own but especially love the fact that we feel connected to the Congress Hall Inn as well. The Blue Pig and the Brown Room make our stay complete!

Enjoyed Most: The price and location.
Other Comments: I thought the decor was ugly. The room was large and clean though which was nice.

Enjoyed Most: The room that we had. Even though I forgot my voucher, the clerk was nice to look up the pin for me and get us to our room quickly.
Other Comments: I was surprised about the $30 "deposit" for the room keys - we were never told about this charge until we saw it in our bank activity.
