This tropical-style art deco hotel in Miami Beach opened its doors in October 2015

  • $95-$143 per night ... Nov. 22-23, 25-30; Dec. 10-14, 18-21

Why We Love It

  • Located just two blocks from the beach
  • Amenities include two beach chairs and a beach bag to use during your stay
  • Relax in a cabana around the large pool

Overview

The Hall South Beach hotel offers a bohemian twist on an art deco classic. As one of the newest additions to Miami Beach’s bustling scene, it has a central location that borders Collins and Washington avenues at 15th Street -- close to both nightlife and shopping. The beach is just two blocks away, and guests have access to two beach chairs as well as a beach bag to use during their stay -- perfect for a day in the sun.

Rooms are decorated with beach-inspired artwork, and bright walls contrast the original hardwood floors all while maintaining a vintage feel. Travelzoo members have noted that the rooms are on the small side; it may be worth opting for a King or Queen-Queen room if space is a concern.

Guests can spend the day lounging by the large pool in one of the surrounding cabanas or sipping on craft beers at Campton Yard, the hotel’s backyard space serving up brews, cocktails and beach bites. After sunset, guests can gather with friends for fine wines and spirits in Holiday's, an Afro-Cuban lobby lounge.

The shops, restaurants and cafes on popular Lincoln Road are only a short walk away, as are various nightlife options. Española Way, modeled after the villages of Spain and France, also offers shopping and dining options and is about a five-minute walk from the hotel.

"The vibe, ambiance, and OMG -- the staff -- were wonderful. The rooms were disappointing. They are very small and the only seating is the bed. The sink in the bathroom was so short and shallow that we bumped our heads on the mirror/shelf when brushing our teeth. I would stay again because the value was good & the staff is amazing. "

My room in the original building looked nothing like the room pictured in the advertising; the bath tub, sink, and toilet was all small in scale and felt low budget

The accommodations at the Hall were very good. The hotel is. Lean and beautifully Art Deco. And the proximity to south beach was perfect. We arrived a little early, so the front deals checked our bags, and suggested that we try the beach or the pool for a little while. They also took our cell number and called us when the room was ready. We got a continental breakfast included for each morning, and to welcome drinks at their local bar. Our biggest complaint was that the elevator was extremely slow, but it really was not a problem. We really enjoyed our stay, the front desk staff, the girls at Sonny's, and everything else. The pool was warm large and enjoyable. The accommodations were clean and the room was very large.

Did not appreciate the huge pool party. They overtook the place. Ugh! Also no wash cloths no hand/bar soap and peeling paint in the bathroom. Ugh!

My only complaint would be on the advertised "Complimentary breakfast for two (reg. $32)" which consisted of 2 pieces of toast with butter/jelly, small cup of fruit and coffee. I know South Beach is expensive but I wouldn't say "$32" for what we were given. Also "Welcome drinks for two (reg. $20)" was a small 8oz glass with I would probably call a prosecco sangria. Very good, however again definitely not $20 worth. Regular full size drink was $8/each with happy hour.

The hotel staff was great, rooms clean, and service was good. The immediate area of the hotel was less than desirable.

The $24 value "breakfast" was a cup of coffee, a cup of juice, two pieces of toast and a small cup of fruit. The last day there they ran out of fruit so it was just toast and coffee. Definitely file this under first world problems, but the breakfast should not be a selling point or deciding factor.
