The Aktivhotel Santalucia hotel, less than 300 metres from Lake Garda, in northern Italy, is modern, comfortable and extremely popular. At the time of writing, it scores 5 out of 5 on TripAdvisor and not one reviewer is unhappy with their stay.
The bed & breakfast sits on the edge of Torbole, a small village on the lake’s shore, home to shops, restaurants and a pretty church, Sant’ Andrea. But the hotel’s main draw is access to a range of activities. It’s an excellent base for biking, hiking, climbing and watersports. Want to relax? Take a boat trip round the lake or visit the Dolomite Mountains, about two and a half hours’ drive away.
There’s no restaurant, but there are plenty of options in Torbole. Breakfast is a hearty continental style buffet -- walkers, mountain bikers and adrenalin junkies are well catered for. For sports widows and widowers, there’s a pool, sun terrace and poolside bar, as well as a small spa and gym with a sauna and solarium. Bikes can be hired or there’s storage if you bring your own (and a workshop in case it needs repairing). Laundry services are also available.
Rooms at the hotel have private balconies, air-conditioning and clothes lines or airers, and come in a range of flexible options -- a Gallery Room sleeps up to 5 people, while a Panorama Junior Suite, which has a separate sitting area, can sleep up to four people and has two balconies with views of the lake.
