For 5-star luxury -- right in the heart of the Polish capital -- it's hard to outdo the Sofitel Victoria Warsaw.
The city is the perfect place to explore centuries of European culture and architecture. Step out of the hotel to find the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, then head to the Old Town and the Royal Castle, which sits in a colourful square less than 15 minutes' walk from the hotel. Other museums trace Warsaw's stormy history of invasion and occupation. Enough history for one day? Relax in one of the city's many cafés and bars, or head out of town to Wilanów Palace, a 17th-century manor house turned royal palace, and around 40 minutes away by car or bus.
Back at the hotel, Le Victoria Brasserie offers modern French dishes using local produce whenever possible. The Victoria Bar is bright, cheerful and has views over Piłsudski Square. Breakfast (a buffet offering a range of international and Polish dishes) is served in the Kitchen Gallery. Other facilities include a fitness centre, a heated pool and a hammam -- massages are also available (charges apply).
Rooms are modern and elegant, in typical Sofitel fashion. All offer free Wi-Fi, mineral water and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Superior rooms have minibars and BOSE sound systems, while Luxury rooms offer Nespresso machines -- these also overlook Piłsudski Square.
