25hours Hotel Zürich West
Why We Love This Hotel
- Stylish design hotel in Zurich's up-&-coming western district
- Close to the city's vibrant contemporary art scene & buzzing nightlife
- Decent value in an otherwise very pricey city
- Excellent public transport links mean it's less remote than it looks
It's not central, but 25hours Hotel Zurich West is at the heart of the city's resurgent western district -- think über-cool nightlife, designer boutiques and warehouse-loft apartments. And in a city where accommodation can be pricey, this design hotel offers decent value in art-filled surroundings.
The hotel is just a few minutes' walk from the Museum Für Gestaltung (design) and 20 minutes from the Kunsthalle contemporary art centre. It's an easy 20-minute tram ride (take the number 4) to central Zurich, where you can explore the Grossmünster Cathedral or look around the old town. In summer, head for the lake and cool off at one of the city's public swimming areas. The hotel also offers free bike rental and free Mini car rental, so there's no excuse for sitting around.
The food and drink scene around Zurich Hardbrücke railway station is pretty buzzy -- and an easy trip on that useful number 4 tram. But if you're back at the hotel, its NENI restaurant serves Israeli-inspired dishes as well as classics such as Caesar salad and cheeseburgers. This is where breakfast is served (at a cost of CHF25) There's also a sauna -- free for all guests.
Rooms feature free Wi-Fi, iPod docking stations and stylish contemporary design. Upgrade to a Gold room for a king-size bed and park views, to a Platin room for a balcony and a Nespresso machine, or to the Häberli Suite for more space, views on two sides and a freestanding bathtub.
