Barceló Costa Vasca
Why We Love This Hotel
- Located in the historic old quarter, close to the city’s gastronomic hub
- A short stroll from the sandy beaches and seaside promenade of La Concha
- Lounge on poolside beds or sample cocktails from the swim-up bar in the summer months
- Watch the chefs at work in the hotel’s fine dining Ulía restaurant
Set in the historic Barrio del Antiguo of San Sebastián (or Donostia, in the Basque language), the 4-star Barceló Costa Vasca hotel is just 10 minutes’ walk from the Miramar Royal Palace, 20 minutes from the city centre and 600 metres from the sandy beaches of Ondarreta and La Concha.
San Sebastián’s centre offers an array of shops and historic sights, as well as the famous pintxo bars and a gastronomic scene that boasts a total of 16 Michelin stars. Further afield, there’s abundant trekking in the mountains, or take a trip to Bilbao, an hour away, to check out the Guggenheim Art Museum.
It’s worth exploring San Sebastián’s many restaurants, but if you’re back at the hotel, its Ulía restaurant offers the opportunity to watch chefs at work on an inventive menu ranging from traditional Basque fare to nouvelle cuisine. The daily-changing menu can be served indoors or on the terrace. For drinks, canapés and tapas, try B-Lounge in the lobby, which has huge range of gins from around the world.
In the summer months, the hotel also opens up the poolside B-Chill Out lounge in the pool area, where guests can lounge on Balinese beds while sampling cocktails and snacks. Other facilities include large landscaped gardens, a swimming pool with swim-up bar (open from 15 June-15 September), a pool table and a health and wellness centre.
Modern rooms have contemporary comforts including air conditioning, TVs, minibars and free WiFi. Selected rooms also have a private terrace with relaxation chairs.
