Hôtel Villa Koegui
Why We Love This Hotel
- Sleek design features and airy spaces
- Striking patio with seating, surrounded by flora
- It’s a 7-minute walk from the beach
- Close to restaurants and bars
Neat and sophisticated, Hotel Villa Koegui has a minimalist vibe reminiscent of Scandinavian design -- think skylights, floor-to-ceiling windows, pops of bright colour and lots of pine. But this is the surf haven of Biarritz and the beach and casino that have made the town famous are just 7 minutes’ walk away.
If you’re not out catching waves, there’s still plenty to do. There’s the Musée de la Mer, with its aquariums, the Musée d’Art Oriental Asiatica, filled with treasures from India, and China, and Planète Musée du Chocolat. You’ll find plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, while the local market, Les Halles, is 6 minutes from the hotel.
Communal spaces include an airy and spacious lounge with a stacked bookshelf and fireplace, as well as a communal table where a continental breakfast is served. But perhaps the star of this show is the plant-filled patio, complete with pine decking, contemporary furniture and a water fountain.
The 14 rooms are bright and elegantly simple, with striking black and white photography -- choose from Classic, Superior or Deluxe. All have city or patio views, as well as flatscreen TVs with cable channels, minibars and free WiFi (the main differences are in size). Upgrade to the master suite on the ground floor for a private patio and lots of space. Baby equipment and extra beds are available for upgraded rooms, but for extra privacy and convenience, families might want to go for the separate rental apartments in the building next door.
