The boutique-style Hotel 96, in the 9th Arrondissement of Marseille, is housed in a converted 19th-century building . The family-owned hotel with hip décor has 13 individually designed rooms, a cosy lounge with a library and a seasonal outdoor pool surrounded by sun-loungers
Parc National des Calanques, perfect for walks around its creeks and beaches, is an 11-minute drive away, while Marseille city centre is 23 minutes by car or about an hour on public transport (the number 22 bus stops less than five minutes' walk from the hotel and goes right into town). Notre-Dame de la Garde, a cathedral consecrated in 1864, is a Marseille highlight. Pointe Rouge beach, where there's a marina, a yacht club, restaurants and shops, is less than four kilometres from the hotel.
Surrounding the tranquil pool area, thea garden dotted with quirky, modern sculptures. A gourmet breakfast is served on the veranda or the terrace (13€ surcharge). There is no restaurant, but the hotel can whip up light snacks or call a delivery service from a nearby catering company upon request.
