The Prinsotel La Caleta hotel is a family-friendly property next to the beach in Ciutadella -- a town described by Lonely Planet as "attractive" and "distinctly Spanish... with a picturesque port and an engaging old quarter."
The 4-star hotel is a 10-minute drive from Menorca's cathedral -- a 14th-century building that was built in a gothic Catalan style. Naveta d'Es Tudons -- a famous monument that's said to be over 3,000 years old -- is a 13-minute drive away, while Macarelleta beach is 32 minutes from the hotel by car.
There are two outdoor pools (one for children), a poolside bar, a rooftop terrace and a restaurant that serves themed dinners and has a special children's menu. There's also another bar and a lounge area, plus a playground, mini golf and free Wi-Fi in all public areas. The hotel hosts live entertainment most nights during the summer.
Each modern bedroom has free Wi-Fi, a fridge and a balcony or terrace. If you book a Select Double Room on a half board-basis, dinner and drinks at the DeTapas Bar are included. These rooms also come with extras such as bathrobes and slippers, a PlayStation 2, pool towels, a fruit basket and a mini bar. The three apartments have kitchenettes and come with free travel cots.
