From Budapest Airport, you can get a shuttle bus for around 3998 Hungarian forints (HUF) (£9) per person, or a private taxi for 6664-7916 HUF -- a taxi journey should take around 20 minutes.
From Kelenföld train station, you can get the subway (line M4) to Rákóczi tér -- it will take 10 minutes and cost around 444 HUF (£1) per person. From here, the hotel is around a 4-minute walk. There is parking behind the hotel; charges apply.

The 4-star Hotel Nemzeti Budapest – MGallery Collection is an imposing Rococo Baroque building that originally opened as a hotel in 1896, becoming the Hotel Nemzeti in 1929. Plenty of the original features have been saved, and are blended together with the original Art Nouveau styling and more modern furnishings. The hotel was formerly a social hotspot for turn-of the-century bohemians and artists due to its proximity the nearby National Theatre, and its self-proclaimed mission is return to this cultural golden age by actively promoting several of the city’s contemporary artists, hosting a National Arts Club and warmly inviting hotel guests to experience the artistic spirit of Budapest.

Hotel Nemzeti is on József körút(Grand Boulevard), a minute's walk from Blaha Lujza tér tram stop in southern Pest. It's a 21-minute walk to the Danube through "a neighbourhood of lovely 19th-century town houses and villas" (Lonely Planet). There you'll arrive at Elisabeth Bridge, from which it's a 13-minute walk to Gellért Thermal Baths or a 22-minute walk to Buda Castle.

When entering the hotel, there is a dominating wide staircase with huge wrought-iron balustrades. All public areas are painted off-white to highlight the original highly decorated walls, spacious areas and high ceilings. The bar serves local sparkling wines and is decorated with deep leather seats and rich purple furnishings, The hotel’s complimentary breakfast is served in its elegant, 19th-century glass-roofed restaurant, which also serves lunch, dinner and snacks from both international and traditional Hungarian cuisine, as well as vegetarian, gluten- and other food-intolerant options. There is also a sauna and business facilities available to guests.

The hotel’s 80 rooms are generally quite large, and are decorated in deep browns and red, with natural wooden furniture. All rooms are air-conditioned and have flat-screen televisions, mini bars, free Wi-Fi access, and a private bathroom with luxury toiletries, as well as dressing gowns and slippers. You can upgrade to a Junior Suite, which has a separate living area with a sofa, as well as a Nespresso machine and coffee pods.
