Shoreline Hotel Waikiki
Why We Love This Hotel
- Great boutique alternative to the big chain hotels
- Five minutes from Waikiki Beach
- Soak up rays from each room's private balcony or at the rooftop pool
Shoreline Waikiki is a trendy retro-styled property that would look quite at home on Miami Beach. The bright white facade conceals a tropical color palette, and all guests are welcomed with a traditional lei flower garland.
It’s not right on the oceanfront, but otherwise the location is pretty close to perfect -- the beach is only a five-minute walk away (guests can borrow beach towels from the front desk), and it’s known for its top-quality surfing.
Set in Waikiki -- home to some of the best dining, nightlife and shopping on Oahu -- the hotel is a block from the string of high-end boutiques and restaurants on Kalakaua Avenue.
This is a funky midsized hotel, with friendly local staff and a small rooftop pool. It doesn’t have all the amenities of a full-service resort, but it’s a great boutique alternative to the big chain hotels. There are a range of extras included in the $15 nightly resort fee like wireless Internet access, tea and coffee in the lobby, newspapers, aloe vera and SPF sun kits, and a 24-hour business center.
Although the rooms are on the cozy side, they have been well thought out, and all rooms come with balconies. Fodor’s recommends the suites on the top floor for views of the ocean and Honolulu's skyline.
