The Christopher is seven miles from Heathrow Airport, while central London is less than an hour away by car. The hotel offers complimentary private parking. Windsor & Eton Riverside train station is five minutes' walk away, and has a regular service to London Waterloo (55 minutes). Windsor & Eton Central station, 10 minutes' walk away, has services to London Paddington (30 minutes, change at Slough).

Dating back to 1711, this former coaching inn hosted live unsigned bands in the 1960s and '70s. One such band was The Rolling Stones before they made it big, although these days you're more likely to be rubbing shoulders with holidaying families than Sir Mick.

Surrounded by antique shops on Eton's quaint High Street, The Christopher is also minutes away from the world-famous Eton College. Just across the bridge is Her Majesty's home, Windsor Castle, however young ones might be more interested in Legoland, five miles away.

The hotel's casual bar and grill restaurant offers three breakfast options (for a surcharge), a European menu for lunch and dinner, and an extensive wine list. Expect the likes of chicken Caesar salad, crispy pork pelly, pizza and of course, Eton mess. For a traditional English experience, don't miss the 3-tier afternoon tea, complete with scones and an optional glass of champagne. You can also sit out on the garden terrace, which features electric heaters.

The elegant rooms offer free Wi-Fi, laptop safes, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Families should upgrade for extra space (children under 10 stay free of charge, while over-10s and adults are charged £15 per night for extra beds). The Christopher is also pet-friendly -- it's £10 per night per dog. Private parking is free.
