The Renaissance Dupont Circle is a good-value hotel, conveniently located on the border of Dupont Circle. It’s part of the Marriott chain, but still has a boutique feel with personal touches, such as hot cider upon arrival, an offbeat restaurant and site recommendations from staff (try the International Spy Museum and the Corcoran Gallery of Art). The comfy lobby is a multi-functional space, with free Wi-Fi and a large communal table for meals and catching up on e-mail.

Open from 6-11am, M Brasserie offers a solid list of classics, including fresh fruit parfait, eggs benedict and three choices of pancakes. There’s also an Illy coffee bar in the lobby, and a lunch and dinner menu of sliders, sandwiches and flatbread pizzas is available in the bar. Once a week guests are treated to live entertainment from local D.C. acts, and there’s also a 24-hour gym with weights and exercise machines.

Set a 10-minute walk from Dupont Circle, the hotel benefits from being quieter in the evenings, while still offering easy access to restaurants and nightlife. It’s also within walking distance of Georgetown, with its cobbled streets and boutiques, and it's 10 blocks from the White House -- or 30 minutes on foot, but there are three Metro stations nearby.

Rooms here are small but comfortable and cleverly thought out, with built-in wardrobes, carpeted floors and large windows. Opt for a Club Room for nightly turndown service and access to the eighth-floor lounge (open Sunday evening-Friday morning), where there are free lunchtime snacks, desserts and non-alcoholic drinks.

Explore all of what the Capital City has to offer with top attractions like award-winning wineries and historic Potomac river cruises to fine-dining experiences just steps from The White House.

Other Comments: Although I felt that all of the staff at the hotel were both professional and welcoming, I would like to give a special shout out for William Queen. William stepped out of his role to assist me when I arrived, hot and exhausted from a day of travel and festival and he made my day with his patience and help. I do not think I am quite old enough to be William's mom, but he treated me the way a good son would...with respect and kindness! Thanks Renaissance for a lovely break and terrific hotel experience!

Enjoyed Most: We were met by the Marriott representative who just happened to be there. She was most helpful as was every other employee. There was a good feeling of job satisfaction among the employees.

Enjoyed Most: Our December visit to DC was memorable! Staying at the Renaissance Washington made our visit extra special - from the warm greeting upon our arrival, most comfortable accommodations, delicious breakfast with some of our favorite menu choices, and near-by location to the Metro. Our TravelZoo deal for this DC hotel was awesome!
Other Comments: Most friendly staff and.....we loved the perk of an exercise room, too!

Enjoyed Most: The staff was super helpful. The location was close to the metro (only 3 blocks away). Good variety at the buffet breakfast, with some selections changing daily. Huge bathroom, comfy pillows. Nicely appointed room. High quality shampoo and soap (Aveda brand).
Other Comments: The towels really smelled like cooked food. Only given one towel in our room, had to hunt down cleaning staff to request more. Lots of street noise, even though we were on the 5th floor. Bed had a bedframe squeak every time you turned. No heat or ventilation in the bathroom.
