Overview

With an enviable city-centre location, Hotel Indigo Newcastle is a modern property in Grainger Town with a design heavily influenced by the surrounding Neoclassical buildings.

The hotel is less than five minutes' walk from Newcastle railway station and Grainger Market, a Grade I-listed covered market that was the largest in Europe when it was built. Sage Gateshead, one of Newcastle's premier concert destinations, and the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art are around 20 minutes' walk away.

Newcastle Castle, the medieval fortification which gave the city its name, is 10 minutes away by foot. Quayside, an area bursting with popular bars and restaurants, is a 15-minute walk away.

We recommend a trip to Jesmond Dene, a steep-sided river valley in the north of the city. You can follow the Ouseburn as it flows south through the valley, maybe spotting a kingfisher or a red squirrel along the way. Start your walk from the Castles Farm Road entrance -- around 20 minutes from the hotel by bus or Metro.

The towering Angel of the North, a contemporary sculpture designed by Antony Gormley, is 15 minutes' drive away.

The hotel's on-site Marco Pierre White Steakhouse serves classic British dishes. There is also a cocktail bar.

All rooms have a free mini bar and 24-hour room service, and there is a gym on site.

We were disappoint that the deal said there was a three course meal included, however we only got a discount of &50. The steaks were £29.50 -£3.50 for a sauce. We ended up paying £78 without a pudding, that was with a £23 bottle of wine. This was misleading for us. I don't normally complain, but the food also was very poor and I did give them my feedback.
